GT LESNIC LIA is a family (peasant) farm — Gospodărie Țărănească — from the village of Şirăuți, Briceni district, in the northernmost part of Moldova, just a few kilometres from the border with Ukraine. Officially registered on 22 March 2023, though that only marks where the paper trail begins — farming here, as in most Moldovan villages, was already underway before registration; it is simply documented now.

What “Gospodărie Țărănească” means

Under Moldovan law, a Gospodărie Țărănească (GȚ) is an individual farming enterprise: one person takes on full responsibility for the land, the harvest, and everything that comes with them. It is not a faceless agricultural corporation run by hired management — it is one specific person, the farm's administrator and sole founder, Lia Ruban, personally accountable for what grows in the field and how it reaches the buyer.

The first confirmed season

The farm's first official trace of activity was a subsidy from Moldova's Agency for Agricultural Interventions and Payments (AIPA) — already in 2023, the very year it was registered, GT LESNIC LIA received a diesel excise compensation under the National Fund for Agricultural and Rural Development. A modest sum, but from the farm's own history, it is proof that machinery was out in the field from the very start, not just on paper.

What grows on the land

The farm's officially registered activity is growing grain crops (except rice), legumes, and oilseed crops. In practice, that means working with field crops typical of northern Moldova — and seasonal vegetables, when the land and weather allow. In autumn 2025, the farm offered large batches of onions to buyers in Briceni district — a clear sign it does not shy away from going beyond a single crop.

Şirăuți and Briceni district

Briceni district is Moldova's northernmost point, where agriculture traditionally centres on grain, oilseed crops, and vegetable farming, and fertile black soil meets the hilly terrain typical of this part of the country. The village of Şirăuți sits away from the main roads — an ordinary Moldovan village where farming remains the main source of work and income for local people.
